Hand painted and hand embroidered silk wrap with hand stitched rolled edges.
172 x 42 cm
The Colours of Fungi was inspired by looking at pictures of Fungi when out walking. What stood out for me was the large range of differing colours and shapes which in turn inspired the eco dying and printing for this wrap. There are some irregularities in the fabric’s surface that are part of the creative process that do not affect the wearing of this item.

She is best known for her encaustic paintings and intricate netlike installations that evoke the movement of dappled light. Susan’s work reflects a sustained engagement with materiality, nature, and contemplative processes. Her artistic inquiry centres on the rhythms and structures of the natural world, particularly trees and water, as well as themes of inner contemplation, mindfulness, and psychological landscapes. Across painting, textiles, and expanded media, Susan constructs immersive visual environments that invite slow looking and embodied reflection. Significant projects include explorations of ecological connectivity, meditative states, and the subtle interplay between inner and outer worlds, forming a body of work that integrates artistic practice with my training and experience in art therapy.
