I combine eco printing and mushroom spore printing to explore the intimate relationship between fungi and forest ecosystems. Using foraged leaves, bark, plant matter, and reclaimed fabrics, I create eco prints by carefully bundling and boiling natural materials to transfer their pigments and tannins onto cloth.
Once the eco print is complete, freshly foraged mushrooms are placed directly onto the fabric, allowing their spores to settle across the surface in delicate, organic patterns. Layered amongst the botanical impressions, these marks reflect the hidden networks and seasonal cycles that sustain life beneath the forest floor.
Balancing careful preparation with the unpredictability of natural processes, my work captures a moment of exchange between fungi, plants, and place, inviting viewers to consider the vital role fungi play in forest health, regeneration, and connection.

Working primarily with eco printing, natural dyes, and textile processes, she creates works using foraged leaves, bark, fungi, and other organic materials. Through slow, hands-on methods, her practice investigates the hidden relationships that sustain ecosystems, particularly the interconnected worlds of plants and fungi.
Josie's work seeks to preserve traces of these fleeting encounters, inviting viewers to consider the intricate networks of growth, decay, regeneration, and exchange that shape the living landscape.
