About the event
Hunt for one of the world’s most prized foods
Winter is truffle season, and at Gulaga Gold, that means heading into the orchard with a highly trained truffle dog to uncover black Perigord truffles hidden beneath the soil.
This is not a demonstration. It is a real hunt and you will be digging the truffles.
You’ll walk among oak trees with Gulaga Mountain watching over you, learning how truffles grow, why they are so rare, and how dogs are trained to detect their unmistakable scent. Then the moment arrives: the dog signals, the earth is gently opened, and a truffle emerges fresh from the ground. Muddy, aromatic, unmistakable.
There is suspense, excitement, and a deep connection to land, season. The hunt finishes with truffle tastings and conversation, leaving you with a new appreciation for why chefs and food lovers around the world revere this extraordinary ingredient.
