This winter, as part of the Fungi Feastival 2026, South Coast Tap House is celebrating one of the most fascinating (and often overlooked) members of the fungi kingdom — yeast.
Running throughout July, The Wild Side of Beer is a curated exploration of how fungi shape flavour, transform ingredients, and create some of the most complex and exciting beverages in the world. While the Feastival showcases fungi across food, science and the arts, our focus is on the role of wild yeast and fermentation in craft beer.
At the heart of this experience are a selection of rare and expressive beers from the Barrel Shepherd — a brewery known for its use of wild fermentation, extended barrel ageing, and time-honoured techniques. These beers are not just drinks; they are living expressions of yeast, wood, fruit and time.
