About the event
In 2020, our local trufferie, Gulaga Gold, reached out to dog owners to find their new truffle hunter. Looking for something new and challenging to do as a team, Kate and her two-year-old dog, Hepburn, answered the call.
Six years on, they have together sniffed out many kilograms of truffles and entertained numerous groups of interested onlookers at organised truffle hunts. Hepburn relishes the challenge of her part-time job and the attention of her audience!
Every dog can smell a truffle, but how do you train them to understand what to look for and how to find it? Most importantly, how do you train them to ignore the many other potentially more appetising smells?
This course explores the process from start to finish. Set on a local property, you will have the opportunity to train your dog to the specific smell of a truffle, learn more about working with them…
