About the event

Join the team from Myconet Solutions for a practical, hands-on workshop in growing your own gourmet mushrooms at home.

MycoNet is a community-focused mycology education group dedicated to building fungal knowledge, food resilience and sustainable growing skills. They specialise in accessible training that combines science, simplicity and real-world application.

In this workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of mushroom cultivation, including how fungi grow, the role of mycelium, and what conditions are needed for success. The team will guide you through substrate selection, pasteurisation methods, inoculation techniques and troubleshooting common problems. You’ll see different growing systems, from low-tech bucket methods to ready-made grow bags, and understand which approach suits your space and lifestyle.

Participants will prepare or inoculate their own substrate to take home, giving you the confidence to continue growing beyond the session. You’ll also learn how growing mushrooms can reduce waste by using materials such as straw, coffee grounds…
