About the event
Join Jeremy Hegge, founder of Partial Veil, for a citizen science–focused fungi foray in the Bega Valley.
Jeremy is a respected field mycologist and educator dedicated to improving fungal literacy in Australia. Through Partial Veil, he trains communities in accurate observation, ethical field practice and data recording, helping everyday nature lovers contribute meaningfully to scientific knowledge.
This foray is not about edible mushrooms. Instead, it is about slowing down, looking closely and learning how to document fungi properly. You will explore how to recognise key identifying features, photograph specimens for research value, and understand the ecological roles fungi play as decomposers, symbionts and habitat creators.
Participants will learn how their observations can support mapping projects and biodiversity records, contributing to a growing understanding of Australia’s under-documented fungal diversity. Jeremy will also discuss responsible field behaviour and why fungi conservation matters.
Whether you are a beginner, photographer, bushwalker or budding citizen…
