About the event
Did you know that fungi share more in common with insects than plants? That the first large organisms on the planet were fungi the size of trees? That the black mold in your bathroom throws out its spores so forcefully that if it were the size of a human the spores would be hurled into orbit? Join enthusiasts Jamie and Danja Derkenne as they introduce you to the amazing world of fungi and take you on a walk through the Eurobodalla Botanic Gardens to introduce you to some common species. Learn why fungi are key to the planet’s survival, how to identify the main groups of fungi, and how to describe and photograph fungi. Please come along with pencil, paper, insect repellent and closed shoes. If you are keen, bring a mirror and an SLR camera.
